Hand-stitched tactile textile
The Anchor was the first piece I made. I wanted to create something small and soft that could give the hands a place to settle. The name came from that idea.
One side has a stitched circle and a gentle wavy line. The other has a raised continuous path and a larger area of seed stitch to trace, feel or rub.
Made from natural linen, it is embroidered in light taupe and a pale natural shade. I kept the colours very light so the texture could do most of the work.
It is softly filled and measures approximately 22 × 16 cm. It can be held, rested on the lap, traced or pressed. There is nothing to work out or complete.
